Sensenbrenner Looks Forward to Extending Congressional Record on Energy Security and Climate Change

Poznañ, Poland, Dec. 8, 2008  - U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., ranking Republican on the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, issued the following statement after today’s meetings at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Poznañ, Poland:

“I am pleased that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will reauthorize the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. So far, the select committee’s record is incomplete, especially when it comes to the costs global warming policies will place on our economy. I welcome the opportunity to extend the select committee’s record on the important economic issues surrounding global warming.

“Voters will not tolerate policies that raise gasoline, electricity and other energy costs, which is exactly what ‘cap-and-tax’ proposals will do.

“Republicans in Congress look forward to a debate on how to address climate change without resorting to tax hikes and other policies that hurt our already ailing economy.”
